Monks Park School Youth Bus

Reaching out and offering services to the local community is becoming increasingly more important for Youth Services Departments and Colleges. They seek to re-engage the community in programs for young people. In the past, a fixed catchment area, would have limited their reach. With a bus equipped with mobile satellite broadband, this limitation no longer applies.

In September 2005 Monks Park becomes the first Communications Specialist School in the country. This is a result of successful application in two curriculum areas: English and Modern Foreign Languages.

The focus is on communications because every student should leave Monks Park equipped to communicate effectively at a local, national and international level through the way they speak, listen and express their ideas in a range of written and creative forms, including ICT.

BrownstoneIT helped Monks Park School in Bristol achieve this goal by equipping their youth bus with Satellite Broadband, allowing the youth workers to provide on line learning and education to people who have special requirements.

BrownstoneIT worked closely with a bus building firm to deliver the bus and I.T. infrastructure. The project was lunched on time and proclaimed a huge success by the local community leaders.
