Tamworth and Lichfield College

Tamworth and Lichfield College provide “Learn Direct” courses to their local business community. The courses are delivered on a specially adapted bus with direct internet access. This allows the courses to be delivered at customer premises.
Prior to Brownstone becoming involved, Tamworth College used 3G cards which proved to be unreliable and delivered limited bandwidth.
Brownstone was asked to help solve the problems of reliable connectivity and assured bandwidth. Brownstone retro-fitted a mobile satellite to the roof of the bus. The system was terminated in the equipment rack at the back of the bus, where the controls for the sat system and modem reside. The bus has been setup to work where ever it stops, offering internet access for 10 PC’s. Training and online testing through the learn direct site have allowed the college to extend their reach into the local community.  < back |
