Northern Ireland Stem Module (technology learning centre)
November 2009
BrownstoneIT was asked to provide broadband communications to a state of the art learning Centre being built by the NEELB (North East Education and Library Board).
The STEM Module was to provide a showcase for developing creative and innovative approaches to learning and teaching in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
The Module promoted careers in STEM related industries and promoted the increased uptake in Science and Technological subjects at post 16 levels. This was achieved by building partnerships with business and academic institutions, utilising the facilities of the Module to the maximum. The main focus was in bringing to pupils a sense of wonder and enjoyment in the study of these subjects this also acted as an incubation unit for new and exciting ideas In order for the communications requirement of the vehicle to be met, BrownstoneIT was asked to supply and install a mobile satellite unit. This would offer broadband and telecommunication service where ever the vehicle travelled to. Due to the tight time frame of the project, BrownstoneIT was brought in at the last minute to help resolve the communication issues. This was completed on time and on budget and allowed for a successful launch at the Stormont Assembly. The launch was linked into a live count down from the European Space Station with the Northern Ireland Minister for Education, Caitríona Ruane, cutting the Ribbon. "I would just like to say a big thank you to BrownstoneIT for helping make the launch of our Stem Module a huge success. I was so impressed with there speed, service and support that I would recommend them to anyone looking into mobile communications. Well done guys.” Willie McKeown – Project Manager STEM Module ![]() < back |
