BrownstoneIT keeps AMEC connected, worldwideWhen AMEC contacted BrownstoneIT, they needed to achieve a fast start to projects, many of which were located in very remote regions such as the Caspian Sea, offshore Nigeria and the Arctic. These short term projects (sometimes only a few months long) mean installing expensive phone line infrastructure at each location simply does not make business sense. Instead, AMEC turned to BrownstoneIT to install a satellite-based communications solution.
AMEC knew that immediate secure data and voice communications from a new project location would deliver a significant competitive advantage to the company. They also sought to reduce the costs associated with the work-around solutions they have been forced to adopt so far.
BrownstoneIT solutions BrownstoneIT set up an evaluation session with AMEC to identify and meet their communication needs in temporary sites. The range of offices sizes needed for AMEC projects was explored, as well as the numbers of phones, number of PCs, call volumes, data transfer speeds and other parameters required. BrownstoneIT’s satellite dish, Vnet Corporate is a very capable solution, with a footprint across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and large parts of Asia – which meshed perfectly with the area required by AMEC. AMEC and BIT became partners for 6 months to cover the period of the development and trial of the solution. Out of this effort came Brownstone’s “Office in a Box” solution - a temporary office with instant, secure phone and data communication from any location within a very wide satellite footprint. Using “Office in a Box”, there’s no more waiting for communications infrastructure to be delivered. Phones and Internet access come pre-packaged and are working as soon as the satellite dish is aligned. Top-notch data security is assured through a VPN (virtual private network) using the industry-standard IPSec protocol, making the Internet communication as secure as a leased line. For the first time, voice communications from the office will be instantly available over a satellite hop using VoIP, where phone conversations are carried free over the Internet. Recent tests and demonstrations have impressed audiences. One of the viewers, Mr Paul Young, of AST said “This makes satellite technology a must-have component in the communications kit of most corporations. It will allow them to deploy faster, and to more locations than the competition.” From now on, no location will ever be too remote for data and voice communication securely and instantly. < back |
